Myanmar: Woodside boosts position

Woodside Petroleum has significantly boosted its exploration acreage position offshore Myanmar, but has surrendered two blocks in Australia and one in New Zealand.

The company said in its latest quarterly that it is farming in for 50% interests in Blocks AD-1, AD-6, AD-8 in the Rakhine basin.

The three permits are owned by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), and are within very close proximity of Woodside’s existing permits in the Rakhine basin.

Woodside said the farm-in is subject to satisfaction
