Geokinetics: Wins Seismic Imaging Contract for Turkish Petroleum

Geokinetics Inc., a leading global provider of seismic acquisition, imaging, reservoir characterization and multi – client data to the oil and gas industry, announced the award of a contract to process multiple 3D marine seismic surveys acquired by Turkish national oil company Turkish Petroleum. The award of this contract further extends Geokinetics’ expertise in generating high quality subsurface imaging across the globe, as a leader in seismic acquisition and imaging technology.

“Turkish Petroleum has been assembling a vast library of marine seismic data, across a variety of geologies in the Mediterranean, Marmara, and Black Seas,” said Melih Han Bilgin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Turkish Petroleum. “We have already established a successful relationship onboard our owned vessel Barbaros Hayredd in Paşa with Geokinetics and will continue to unlock the value of our seismic data.”

“Quality operational decisions begin with reliable data,” said David Crowley, President and CEO of Geokinetics. “Geokinetics experienced teams will combine our best practices in project management with novel processing technologies in order to deliver a unique solution to Turkish Petroleum on this project. We appreciate our client’s vote of confidence and look forward to expanding our relationship. ”

The Geokinetics scope of work includes performing marine seismic time and depth imaging on data acquired over numerous offshore surveys in the Mediterranean, Marmara, and Black Seas, totaling approximately 19,500 square kilometers. The seismic processing effort will be managed and executed in Geokinetics’ London location, with additional technical expertise provided from Geokinetics ’ global headquarters in Houston .

“Imaging 3D data from multiple surveys, acquired over time, requires a solution that can account for any potential variables in the acquired data,” said Jim Bogardus, Executive Vice President, Processing, Reservoir and Multi-Client Services. “Geokinetics time and depth processing technologies provided by merging our proprietary ethos TM and DIAMOND TM software platforms, in addition to our regional and global support capabilities, were important factors in earning Turkish Petroleum’s trust for this project.”
