A Game-Changing Partnership in Renewable Energy

In a landmark move that’s set to redefine Europe’s energy landscape, Greenvolt Group has inked a groundbreaking agreement with BYD Energy Storage, one of the world’s leading battery energy storage system (BESS) providers. This collaboration will see the development of two massive BESS projects in Poland, with a combined capacity of up to 1.6 GWh. These projects, located in Turosn Koscielna and Nowa Wies Elcka, will connect to Poland’s Transmission System Operator at 110 kV and 220 kV, respectively, and are slated to begin operations by 2028.

This partnership isn’t just about scaling up energy storage—it’s about accelerating the transition to a cleaner, more resilient energy grid. With renewable energy sources like wind and solar becoming increasingly dominant, the need for robust energy storage solutions has never been more critical. Greenvolt and BYD are stepping up to the challenge, delivering cutting-edge technology that promises to stabilise grids, maximise renewable integration, and pave the way for a sustainable energy future.

Why This Deal Matters

The agreement marks Greenvolt’s largest BESS project in Europe to date, underscoring the company’s commitment to advancing energy storage technology. João Manso Neto, CEO of Greenvolt Group, emphasised the significance of the deal, stating, “This partnership with BYD Energy Storage strengthens our mission to develop and execute energy storage projects that are essential for integrating renewable energy at scale.”

But the implications go beyond just technology. Radek Nowak, CEO of Greenvolt Power, highlighted the economic and operational benefits, noting, “Energy storage isn’t just a technological advantage—it’s a key driver of long-term feasibility and profitability.” With capacity market contracts already secured, these projects are poised to deliver both environmental and financial returns.

Building the Foundation for a Greener Grid

The first phase of the project is already underway, with construction of power substation infrastructure kicking off in early 2025. Deliveries for the BESS systems are expected to begin in late 2025, with full completion targeted for early 2026. Once operational, these systems will play a pivotal role in enhancing grid stability, supporting Poland’s renewable energy ambitions, and contributing to the broader European energy transition.

Greenvolt’s presence in Poland spans nearly two decades, with the company overseeing the development of utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects. The launch of Greenvolt Next Polska last year further solidified its commitment to decentralised renewable energy solutions, including solar storage and electric mobility for the B2B market.

This latest collaboration with BYD Energy Storage is a testament to Greenvolt’s vision of a sustainable energy future—one where innovation, collaboration, and scalability drive real change.
