The subsea energy sector is about to get a major upgrade. Houston-based KOIL Energy Solutions, a leader in subsea energy equipment and services, has joined forces with Norwegian engineering powerhouse SubseaDesign AS. This strategic alliance is set to revolutionize subsea technology, delivering cutting-edge solutions for global energy demands.
A Partnership Built for Innovation
The collaboration between KOIL Energy and SubseaDesign is more than just a handshake—it’s a bold move to redefine subsea field development. As the energy industry shifts toward cost-effective and advanced subsea systems, this alliance aims to accelerate the delivery of innovative tieback and field development solutions.
“The industry is hungry for smarter, more efficient subsea technologies,” said Thomas Andreassen, CEO of SubseaDesign. “By partnering with KOIL Energy, we’re combining our expertise to push the boundaries of what’s possible. Together, we’re not just meeting demand—we’re shaping the future of subsea performance.”
Erik Wiik, CEO of KOIL Energy, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the growing global demand for subsea tie-back projects. “This partnership allows us to scale faster and reach new markets. SubseaDesign’s expertise in Europe complements our capabilities perfectly, enabling us to deliver localized solutions to our clients,” he said.
Expanding Horizons: KOIL Energy’s Brazilian Play
But the alliance isn’t the only big news from KOIL Energy. The company is making waves in Brazil, establishing a state-of-the-art technology center in Macaé, the heart of the country’s offshore petroleum industry. The new facility spans a massive 180,000 square feet, with a 27,000-square-foot workshop dedicated to engineering, manufacturing, testing, and service support.
“Brazil’s ambition to become a top-five global oil producer by 2030 aligns perfectly with our growth strategy,” said Gustavo Goncalves, Managing Director of KOIL Energy in Brazil. “Our product portfolio is tailor-made to support Brazilian operators as they scale up their operations.”
This expansion underscores KOIL Energy’s commitment to global growth, with its headquarters remaining in Houston, Texas, and its Brazilian subsidiary, KOIL Energy Solutions Brasil, spearheading regional operations.
A Glimpse into the Future
The partnership’s first major project is already underway. In December 2024, KOIL Energy is set to deliver subsea distribution manifolds to a prominent oil and gas company for a project in West Africa. This milestone highlights the alliance’s ability to tackle complex challenges and deliver results on a global scale.
With this partnership, KOIL Energy and SubseaDesign are not just keeping pace with industry trends—they’re setting the standard for innovation in subsea technology.
