InterMoor Completes Groundbreaking Studies for UK’s 1 GW Floating Wind Farm

How Deep-Water Wind Energy is Taking Shape in the UK

InterMoor, a key player in Acteon’s Moorings and Anchors Business Line, has wrapped up a series of critical studies for a massive UK floating wind farm. With a capacity of up to 1 GW and situated in water depths of 85–150 meters, this project could redefine offshore renewable energy. The studies covered everything from planning and installation to long-term operations and maintenance, ensuring the farm’s viability at commercial scale.

“Floating wind is no longer a niche technology—it’s a cornerstone of the energy transition,” says Tim Reid, whose guest comment appears in the Spring 2025 issue of Energy Global.

The same issue dives into pressing energy topics, from Europe’s negative electricity prices to advancements in electrical infrastructure and site surveys. Contributions from industry heavyweights like EM&I and DeterTech highlight the sector’s rapid evolution. Meanwhile, ScottishPower Renewables’ MachairWind initiative is fostering local growth, integrating Argyll and Bute businesses into its industry support program.
