At the heart of this initiative is Percepto’s AIM (Autonomous Inspection & Monitoring) software, which powers the drones to perform complex tasks without human intervention. Equipped with optical gas imaging (OGI) cameras and RGB cameras, these drones capture critical data, from gas leaks to structural anomalies, and transmit it in real-time to Chevron’s control centers.
“The drones are designed to operate autonomously, but they’re also incredibly flexible,” explains Ariel Avitan, co-founder of Percepto. “Operators can take manual control if needed, zooming in on specific areas or responding to unexpected issues.”
What sets this system apart is its rugged design. Built to withstand harsh environments, the drones are equipped with parachutes, advanced sensors, and weather-resistant charging stations. This ensures uninterrupted operation, even in the most challenging conditions.
