Fugro: Three new members for Platform Broadband@Sea

As of the 1st of October 2017 the Platform Broadband@Sea welcomes three new members. Ship-owners Fugro and Reederei Nord BV, as well as supplier Telenor joint the platform to share their knowledge and get in contact with the other partners.

Fugro is an independent provider of geo-intelligence and asset integrity solutions for large constructions, infrastructure and natural resources. This multinational company, predominately active in energy and infrastructure markets, employs approximately 10,500 employees in around 60 countries. Fugro operates a fleet with survey, subsea and geotechnical vessels.

Reederei Nord BV manages several vessels, such as container vessels, bulk carriers and tankers, on behalf of the Oldendorff Family (founder of the Reederei Nord Group) and for various third party interests. Their office in Amsterdam focuses on wet tonnage.

Telenor Satellite is a major European satellite provider of broadcast and data communication  services for customers in the broadcast, maritime, and oil and gas markets. The company owns and operates the THOR satellite fleet, which provides high-powered and high-quality satellite capacity throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The Platform Broadband@Sea

The subject of ship to shore interaction and the growing importance of data and communication is of great importance. The main goal of Platform Broadband@Sea is to exchange knowledge and start projects in this field. Meetings and publications ensure transparency in this process. Today, Platform Broadband@Sea consists of 15 ship-owners and 16 suppliers and can be considered as an integrated partnership of various organisations and acts as consortium. The overall organisation and coordination of Platform Broadband@Sea is done by Netherlands Maritime Technology, the Dutch association for shipyards, maritime suppliers and service providers.
