France’s EDF Powers Up Madagascar with Ambitious New Hydroelectric Venture
Madagascar is set to build the 120 MW Volobe hydroelectric dam near Tamatave, a project expected to cover a third of the country’s electricity demand and reduce fossil fuel reliance by 2030. The $400 million+ initiative, backed by EDF Renewables, AXIAN Group, and Africa50, aims to power 2 million people while cutting 600,000 tons of CO annually.
